ALLISON
September 19
I really need some help with this one.  I cannot find the parents of Franklin Alexander ALLISON, born 15 March 1840 in Statesville, NC, Irdell County. He was working as a printer by 1853 (at the age of 17).  Don't know where. He is listed in the 1860 Census of Copiah County, MS, living in the home of A. L. and Mary Frances (Hatch) ALLISON. A.L. was born in 1831 and is listed as a "publisher of newspaper" and his wife Mary and (I assume his brother) Franklin are listed as printers. This makes me wonder if "printers" ran in the family?? Franklin married Mary Bond NEAL on April 22, 1861 in Copiah County, MS. Then we have the Civil War and thus far I have found no information as to which side he fought on and from which state.  But I do know that he was a soldier.  Any ideas on how to search this would be greatly appreciated.

Next, Franklin Alexander ALLISON, and family, are listed in the 1865 Jackson County, IL census. From this point on I have a pretty good idea of his whereabouts, etc.

Thanks to anyone who can help me locate the parents of Franklin Alexander ALLISON.

MARSHALL
July 14
I am researching my 4th Great Grandfather, who died on Apr 17, 1839 in Iredell Co., NC.  I have a copy of his will from the NC Archives.  He married Mary Foote b ca 1767 Bute Co., NC on Jun 11, 1785 in Warren Co., NC. They had 13 children, names and dates of birth from RevWar Pension file. Isaac & Mary Marshall moved to Iredell Co., NC about 1808/1809.  Mary Marshall died on Nov 24, 1849 in Iredell Co., NC(I have a copy of her will from the NC Archives.)  Their last child Theophilus Marshall born on Dec 13, 1810 was born in Iredell Co., NC.

I have a abstracted copy of an article printed in the Statesville paper, that states Isaac Marshall was buried at Snow Creek, but no one has been able to locate his grave.  I do not know where Mary Foote Marshall is buried.  I just recently found that Mary had relatives, i. e. Henry A. Foote, who according to his birth date, I believe was a 1st cousin, the son of William Foote, brother to Mary Foote's father Henry A. Foote.  I wonder if she is not buried with the other Foote family members.  I just found last week that Henry Foote was on the 1850 Census(shown on Index) of Iredell Co., C, and have not had a chance to view the record yet.  I had seen a Deed with Henry Foote mentioned and had assumed it was Mary's brother as he was also named Henry A. Foote, but after finding the name on the Census index, I am now convinced it is in fact Mary Foote Marshall's Uncle, not brother who made his home in Iredell Co., NC and is on the Deed record.

The letter date is hard to read, but believed to have been written in 1888. However, the last page is missing, so we don't know the name of the brother. In the letter he mentions his wife Bell, and lists his children as, George ____Alexander, Francis Catherine, and James Edgar. He states "father and mother are stout", and "Gust is living with them". Any help in finding out the name of the brother would be greatly appreciated.

I am researching Campbell family of North Carolina.  My ancestors came from NC to Greene Co, TN @1830.  His name was "Pierce" (think it to be a nick name) or Piercephull Campbell and hers Letitica Morgan/Coleman.  I have looked in Census records and found Piercephull Campbells in Rowan and Iredell county, however, dates and names don't match.  I am looking for reserach assistance  (possible marriage bond records or marriage records.  Death certificates are not available in TN because of the date they died and the only thing I am sure of is that they were born in NC (listed on census records).  I would
appreciate any assistance, and if I can assist you with TN research, please don't hesitate to ask.

POTTS
JAN 3
I am looking for a Thomas Potts who first petitioned for 500 Acres of land in Anson Co NC, in 1749.  John had a wife named Mary (maybe Wilson) and Jonathan's wife was Rachel ?.  They had land on the south fork of Catawba River and lived on Potts Creek. I would like to know where he came from originally. He had two sons John and Jonathan.  They both received land grants from Thomas in 1767 just prior to the final establishment of the state boundary.  They lived on Potts creek, south side south fork of the Catawba River, granted to Thomas Potts 30/ Aug/ 1753. The son John was married to a Mary (maybe a Wilson).  Thomas was a land surveyor and a judge. One son married a Mary (maybe a Wilson). Some think he settled at first in the new Jersey settlement.  He surveyed a piece of land for a Jeremiah Potts in 1753 also on the Catawba.  Don't know the relationship.
